kamal stitch
For kamal kadai work we use cone thread preferably 2 shaded. This is the most beautiful stitch in hand embroidery of Andhra/India. Kamal work also called allika kuttu(weaving stitch).
Its beauty really challenges one who love embroidery.The procedure for stitching is of the weaving technique. We stitch vertical lines and weave on them. Selecting colours are very important for this stitch.
For kamal work use cone threads only shaded or single color.
I have done this work on mallaya pattu sari of sandal color. On this color sari, maroon color cone thread is used to stitch and small beads also used to give a grand look for this sari.
